READING MAKETH A FULL MAN
Books to the right and books to the left . They ruled the world . But now , what are the chances of survival of our reading in this world of today? A perfect zero, I suppose !
What automobiles have done to horses , TV and other electronic gadgets have done to reading ! Wading through a book - for the new generations is like gulping down crushes bitter gourds down the hatch . But we cannot just blame them , can we ? in this life of hustle and bustle ,everything has to tick away at a very high rate gone are those days. when we delivered pleasure out of reading. Now, they would like to know the end of a story within an hour or so , from its commencing . Can they did that in a book? Darwin ,Shakespeare , Tagore , Dickens.......... what's all that ? They would all sound like dishes right out from a continental menu for them - with the flying of time !!! As long as they virtually 'see' dinosaurs , 'chat' with Edison or even have Tom sawyer right down in their living room , why jump amidst an unfamiliar world of words ?
But what these educated yet 'illiterate' people fail to understand is that , the pleasure derived from reading is unique treasure great work of great people can really electrify your grey cells once you experience it - you can share their joys , sorrow , hopes , inspiration and become intimate with them .
Most of the modern students read books for them are just something to be kept covered and put away in the bags . They leave no time to go in for some extra reading .But remember - a good reader is also a knowledgeable person with the horizon of his understandig expanding in all directions. So , go ahead and imbibe the spirit dissolved in it to its core.
Remember these words of the great philosopher and writer
